When bear-mad schoolgirl Sandy Lane has her beloved teddy bear Berisford confiscated at school, she dreads the thought of going a whole night without his cuddles. Little does she know that a bear-rilliant night awaits her, involving Berisford, a bear statue and many other wonderful friends!

One Night In Beartown is a glorious book that deserves to be snapped up by a production company and turned into a Christmas tradition along with those well known animations of books by Raymond Briggs or Julia Donaldson.”  Linda Hill, Linda’s Book Bag

One Night in Beartown is an awesome read; one of the best kids’ books this year; it’s most highly recommended.”. – Readers’ Favorite ★★★★★

You don’t need to hail from Congleton to buy this lovely book. It’s bear-illiant!  The Bookbag ★★★★

Following the success of his debut picture book Sarah’s Shadow, which won Best Children’s Picture Book in the Readers’ Favorite Awards in 2018, Nick Jones found inspiration for his next story in the town where he lives, Congleton in Cheshire. Congleton is nicknamed Beartown because, many years ago, the town owned a real-life bear, and in 2011 the town held a very successful festival called Bearmania, with over 70 painted bears dotted around the town. One day in 2018, when Nick drove past a bear statue in Congleton one day, he had an idea: what if that bear statue came to life? Or, better still, what if all the painted bears from Bearmania came to life? Two years and a Kickstarter campaign later, One Night in Beartown was born!

  1. Sammy Morelli

One Night in Bear Town is a sweet story of overcoming bullying, being yourself and staying true to what you believe in. It’s superbly written and beautifully illustrated by the talented Si Clark, with child appropriate language used throughout. It’s relatable and enjoyable for all ages. As a mother and an Early Years worker, this truly deserves a special place on every bookshelf and so much more.

  2. Jane Hunt

One Night in Beartown, set in Congleton, locally known as Beartown, is a lovely story aimed at young children. It explores bullying, being apart from someone you love and the life’s magic that’s always there if you look hard enough.

The illustrations are bright and engaging and illuminate the text in a way that appeals. The story is an easy read, perfect for reading to younger children or for older children to read by themselves. There is a magical feel to the story and a lovely twist at the end.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.
